Yes, this does cost $4229. Thanks to the new law that goes into effect Feb. 10, 2009, the CPSIA will require that I test each product in my shop for lead. Each component will cost $70 and since my Bob the Flying Butterfly have 10 components (different kinds of wood, fishing line, thread,paints,etc…) that comes to $ 700. Add in the additional $350 per component for phthalates testing and I would have to add $3500. Making my once $29 Bob the Flying Butterfly a whopping $4229.
